beeSPORT Tester On Ice

Now Powered by VALD Performance for More Precise and Comfortable Player Diagnostics

When we introduced beeSPORT Version 7 in February, we outlined what a next-generation multisport testing ecosystem looks like — built on VALD Performance hardware integrated into one unified platform. Now that system has moved fully onto the ice. And what we observed confirms what we already knew: the same beeSPORT tests, run with VALD equipment in a real on-ice environment, deliver a noticeably higher quality of measurement.

What we actually test on the ice

beeSPORT on-ice testing covers the movement patterns that define a hockey player's real performance: skating speed, acceleration, crossover efficiency, transitions, and overall movement control between sensor positions. These are not abstract lab metrics. These are the exact qualities that separate players at every level of the game — from junior development to professional preparation.

Each test session produces a structured performance snapshot that coaches and training specialists can act on. Not impressions. Not gut feelings. Measurable data tied directly to what the player does on the ice.

What changed with VALD

As described in the beeSPORT v7 release, VALD Performance brings wireless Bluetooth connectivity, robust hardware construction, and mobile device control into the testing workflow. On ice, this translates directly into cleaner data capture, smoother test execution, and a more comfortable experience for the player during the session. Measurements are more consistent, comparisons between players become more reliable, and the overall process feels more professional — both for the athlete and for the coaching staff running the session.

To put it simply: the same movement, captured with greater precision.

Who benefits from this

The upgrade is relevant for everyone involved in structured player development. Coaches gain more trustworthy data to base their training decisions on. Players receive clearer feedback on where they stand and where to improve. Training centres and academies can run diagnostics that meet a higher professional standard. And organisations evaluating player progress across a full season now have a more consistent measurement baseline to work with.

In an environment where the margin between good and great is increasingly narrow, better data is not a nice-to-have. It is a competitive advantage.

Testing as a development tool, not just a snapshot

The purpose of beeSPORT testing has never been to produce a report and move on. It is to give coaches and players a clear, honest picture of current performance — and a reference point to measure real improvement over time. The full beeSPORT v7 ecosystem, now proven in both gym and on-ice environments, strengthens exactly that: the reliability of the picture and the accuracy of the measurement.

The test is the same. The precision is better. And better precision leads to better decisions, better training, and better players.

If you are looking to bring this level of diagnostics to your centre, academy, or training programme, we are happy to walk you through how it works in practice.
